Repair your cracked heels in 4 steps

The very dry and calloused skin of the heel can indeed crack and cause cracks to appear. Nothing serious, it’s just unsightly and sometimes painful! Let’s see how we can fix this…

Repair your cracked heels in 4 steps

Step 1: the foot bath

To repair the skin of the heels, it will be necessary to go through the foot bath at least once a week.

Do it preferably in the evening, before going to bed or in any case, when your feet will be resting for a few hours.

Here are the steps to follow for a good foot bath:

– Fill a basin with lukewarm to hot water ; – Pour in some baking soda ; – Soak your feet for about 20 minutes; – Dry your feet and go to the next step.

Step 2: exfoliation

The scrub will eliminate dead cells, activate blood circulation, and tone the epidermis for softer skin that is more able to receive care.

Once a week, preferably after the foot bath or after the shower or bath if you skipped step 1, we will exfoliate the feet to repair or prevent excessively dry and cracked heels.

Using a store-bought or homemade scrub, massage your feet in circular motions , from the fingers to the heel. Pay particular attention to this area. Then, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and be sure to dry your feet thoroughly.

For a homemade scrub, you can use, mixed with olive oil, sweet almond oil or argan oil:

  • coffee grounds
  • You gros sel
  • Unrefined cane sugar

You can also use a pumice stone . Be careful not to scrub too hard.

Step 3: intense hydration

After the foot bath and exfoliation, make way for hydration !

Apply a moisturizer or oil of your choice generously and insist on the heels.

The ideal would be to apply a thick layer of cream or oil, wrap in cellophane, put on a pair of socks and sleep in them, but this way of doing things is neither the most pleasant nor the most glamour !

Step 4: Oils

Apart from this little ritual, we advise you to apply as soon as you wish (every morning for example), essential and vegetable oils only on your heels.

The perfect essential oils for this problem are:

  • Cistus essential oil : a few drops on a cotton pad to rub on the heel.
  • Yarrow essential oil : to be applied mixed with a cream or an oil.
  • Patchouli essential oil : regenerating and healing, you can pour it into your bath water (foot bath or not), mixed with a dispersant or powdered milk.
  • Palmarosa essential oil : moisturizing and healing, you can apply it directly or mixed with oil on the heel.

As for vegetable oils, olive oil, calendula, sweet almond, argan and macadamia are the most recommended.
